Thank you all for the wonderful comments regarding the first post when choosing your skin care regime. Your comments keep me motivated and I love hearing from you knowing you are actually reading the material! Thank you
The second step in your home care regime is where I like to see my clients spend their money. Although there are 2 other steps I like to see in between the cleanse and the moisturizer this is remember the ESSENTIAL BASICS for home care.
Choosing a moisturizer
I hear many reasons as to why people like or dislike using a moisturizer but this is a necessary and essential step to your regime.
Keep in mind the skin is hydrated inside with water and nutrition and outside with your choice of topical product.
Given that the Spring and Summer months are around the corner this is a great time to re-evaluate your regime. Given the climate in which we live you may actually require a different moisture regime for spring and summer then for fall and winter.
EVEN if you have an oily skin type you MUST use moisturizer!!! Where your moisture will differ from those with a dry or mature skin type is that yours will be a water base product versus and oil or lipid base.
Oily skin types you will want to choose a gel base or lotion base product. This is NOT going to make you break out as you can not break out from water! The thinner consistency and molecular structure of a water based product will allow for fast absorption with the feeling weightlessness on the skin!
If you have a dry skin type or mature skin type you will require a product richer in lipids and oil. Therefore a lotion or cream based product is best for you. This product will have a slower absorption rate as the molecular structure is slightly larger due to the lipidic composition.
Regardless of your skin type I am a firm believer in day and night moisture application. Choose a richer product for night and a lighter product for day.
Oily Skin - choose a gel for day and a lotion for night
Dry-Mature Choose a lotion or cream for day and a cream for night.
Using one product for day and night is certainly better then nothing at all but remember your skin goes into repair mode naturally at night while sleeping so why not assist the process by using a product designed to give you the results you wish to achieve.
