Less can be Best

Sorry it has been awhile since my last post.  The Summer Season at The Spa West 9th Street was a VERY busy one.
Back to routine and structure!!!

I wanted to touch on the subject of cost when purchasing a skin care product  or regime.
Many people have the misconception that purchasing from a spa or specialty boutique can mean it will be expensive.

I want to share with you that this is not the truth. In fact, choosing a quality based product can be inexpensive when you factor in amount used and how long it will last.

For example, if you are using a concentrated formula and you are following the directions provided to you in the long run you will be SAVING money.
Let me use cleanser as an example, A cleanser that is free of harmful surfectants, and sodium laureth sulfate will get the job done more effectively using less product.  One pump of a quality concentrated product averaging an 8oz size should last you between 6-8 months at a cost of $45.  This works out to be less then $8 per month.  Now lets factor a less expensive product, same size that lasts only about a month or two and costs on average of $8-$10.  Not only will this product cost you approximately $10 per month but you also have to replace it more frequently therefore more trips to the store!  Factor in cost of transportation or put a value on your time to walk to the store (high fives to those who are walking) and you have already spent more then purchasing a quality product.

A full skin care regime does NOT need to cost hundreds of dollars And YES I am in business and said those words. Remember my first priority as a skin care professional is the health and wellness of the skin, and creating a regime within the clients time and financial budget.
(See my blog post on why visit a skin professional)

Just because the product is expensive does NOT mean it works more effectively then a less expensive version.

In my 16 years as a spa professional I have sampled, purchased and used many different product lines and it goes without saying that sometimes "less is best".  That goes for amount used and amount paid!

*** My cost evaluations were based on the products that I am most familiar with.
